WHAT TO EXPECT

The day you bring your new puppy home

Your new puppy will come home with a health guarantee, bill of sale, AKC registration application, a gallon of puppy food, and a towel that smells like her mother.  The provided puppy food is what she  been eating.  When changing  to a different food, progressively mix a little more of your new food each day with the food provided. This will help prevent upset stomach.  The towel with mother's scent will comfort her and reduce her stress.

Slowly introduce the new puppy to other family members and animals.

If she is going to be an inside dog, take her out every hour or two, after feeding or anytime she is sniffing the floor and circling.

The first few nights can be stressful for a puppy that is used to sleeping with her mother and litter mates.  Keep her in a small kennel in your bedroom.  She will wake you up in the middle of the night  to go outside.  Don't worry, this won't last long.
